The Vetiver Solutions Blog is presented as a service of Agriflora Tropicals, a family-owned farm and nursery in the mountains of Guayama, Puerto Rico, USA.  Since 1989, Agriflora Tropicals has served landscapers, contractors, and the general public with a broad variety of tropical plants and trees for beautification and reforestation projects.

As members of The Vetiver Network International, Agriflora Tropicals produces top quality Vetiver plants for soil conservation and other bioengineering applications.  We are the premier source of Vetiver plants on the Internet for clients in the USA, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.

Also members of The Heliconia Society of Puerto Rico, Agriflora Tropicals has over nine acres of field plants dedicated to the Zingiberales family - heliconia, ginger, banana, and other exotic flowering plants.  Many plants and rhizomes of this family are also available from our online store.

On site, cut tropical flowers and a large variety of trees, palms, bamboo and other plants are also available for local delivery.  Some of these items are occasionally offered through our online store.
About Our Farm and Nursery
Almost surrounded by Lake Carite in the central mountain region of Guayama, Puerto Rico, our 30-acre farm combines fields of tropical flowers with thick tropical forest zones.  We have chosen to maintain the forest zones in about half of the farm as a private wildlife refuge for local and migrating bird species.

At 2000 feet above sea level, we enjoy cool fresh air all year round, and our plants enjoy tropical temperatures that are always 10 degrees Fahrenheit cooler that in the coastal areas. The clean and isolated environment is ideal for the production of our high quality nursery plants.
About Our Internet Store 
Our Vetiver plants and a growing number of our tropical plants are now available to the USA from Agriflora Tropicals, our own online store.  We are certified for export by the Puerto Rico Department of Agriculture and we can provide a Phytosanitary Certificate if required.

The store site provides for volume discounts and shipping cost adjustments for larger orders.  Please contact us directly for commercial applications or large residential projects.
About Ourselves
Agriflora Tropicals is family owned by me, Alberto Rodriguez, a retired engineer turned nurseryman , and my agronomist wife Carmen Iris Ruiz.

After serving as a US Army officer, I toiled for many years in the world of information sciences including roles with IBM, Hewlett-Packard, and other well known industry players. If you want to know more, check out my LinkedIn Profile.  I am now leading the Vetiver side of the house of Agriflora.  The Vetiver Network International has honored me with a certification as a Vetiver grower and installer, and an appointment as an Associate Director to its board.

Carmen Iris' experience in horticulture took her from private industry to management jobs with the University of Puerto Rico and the Department of Public Works.  She is now fully dedicated to the plants and trees of Agriflora.  Carmen Iris has also completed certification as an arborist, and is a very capable florist using the many flowering plants at Agriflora.
